Maybe this New Zealand citizen should participate in a crazy foreigner television show. Daniel (30), was seen having fun amid the flood in Jakarta. He creatively hired a motorcycle and asked the driver to pull him, while he stood on a surfboard. Insane!
Spotted by Detik News’ crew in front of the Bank Mandiri Museum in Glodok, Jakarta, Daniel was relaxing with his surfboard. Dressed in a black shirt, brown shorts, and black converse shoes, he was seen ‘riding the wave’.
Initially, he tried to surf by himself but kept on falling down. A little boy who saw Daniel in action was laughing at his unsuccessful attempts.
“This is evacuation, evacuation,” said Daniel politely when asked.
He claimed to be the guitarist of a punk rock band named Citizen Useless. The band had performed at several places in Jakarta. Daniel lives in Apartment Pluit and was heading to a friend’s house in Apartment Rasuna.
Aware of the flood, he carried his own surfboard and hired a motorcycle driver to pull him. Daniel was then busy surfing, acting as though he was on a beach.
“The flooding in Jakarta happens once every 5 years and there is nothing else we can do. I will still live in Jakarta,” explained Daniel in English.
